MMAI Stakeholders Webinar April 18, 2013

The first of a series of bi-monthly MMAI Stakeholders Webinars will be held on April 18, 2013, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The Department will provide an update on the status of its Innovations Project, and specifically is seeking input regarding client outreach, education and enrollment in the Medicare-Medicaid Alignment Initiative (MMAI) to integrate care for individuals eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid under one managed care program.

As you may know, on February 22, 2013, the Department received approval from the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to jointly implement the Medicare-Medicaid Alignment Initiative (MMAI). The MMAI is a groundbreaking joint effort to reform the way care is delivered to clients eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid Services (called dual eligibles). The MMAI demonstration project will provide coordinated care to more than 135,000 Medicare-Medicaid enrollees in the greater Chicago area and throughout central Illinois beginning October 2013.

You can view more information on the MMAI and access the Memorandum of Understanding on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Website at  http://www.cms.gov/apps/media/press/factsheet.asp?Counter=4547
