Telepsychiatry
In January 2010, HFS expanded its covered telehealth services to include telepsychiatry. Below you will find additional information regarding HFS’ telepsychiatry policy, including details related to billing the fee-for-service system. Questions regarding the coverage and reimbursement of telepsychiatry to clients enrolled with a Medicaid managed care plan should be directed to a representative from the appropriate managed care plan.

DHS/DMH Telepsychiatry Program
The Telepsychiatry program administered by the Illinois Department of Human Services, Division of Mental Health (DHS/DMH) offers psychiatric services to children and youth living in communities with limited access to board certified psychiatrists. Telepsychiatry services are delivered through secure video conferencing to link children and youth to necessary psychiatric services.
