If you are looking for other types of providers or services, please use the SPIDER database. For Department of Human Services funded programs, such as Developmental Disability Services or Substance Use Prevention and Recovery services, please use the IDHS Office Locator Tool

If you are eligible for Medicaid services or are enrolled in a Medicaid Managed Care Plan, and you are looking for mental health or substance use recovery services, you can use the resources below to find a provider or appropriate programs or services:  

  • The Service Provider Identification & Exploration Resource Database (SPIDER Database) allows users to search a specific area in the state for different types of agencies and services and can be accessed here:
  • HFS has established Designated Service Area Providers for Mobile Crisis Response who can offer immediate assistance if you or someone you know is having a crisis. Please use the resources on our Crisis Services webpage if you need assistance with a mental or behavioral health crisis, or the ‘Find a Crisis Provider’ section of this page below.
  • You can call your Managed Care Plan directly to find out which providers are covered. Managed Care Plan contact information can be found at this link. 
  • Talk to your child’s pediatrician or primary care provider for a referral to a provider that accepts your insurance for mental health services, or
  • Talk to your child’s school social worker about any potential options or services available through the school or by referral.

If you have private insurance:

  • Contact your insurance provider for mental health professionals who accept your insurance for treatment.

Find a Crisis Provider

HFS has established Designated Service Area Providers for Mobile Crisis Response who can offer immediate assistance if you or someone you know is having a crisis. The linked list below of Designated Service Area Providers of Mobile Crisis Response identifies by County (by zip code for Cook County) the Mobile Crisis Response provider that HFS has partnered with to provide crisis services. Below are additional resources that can be used to identify the appropriate Designated Service Area, including maps and a geographic breakdown of the coverage areas.

If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis or you have concerns for their immediate safety, that they may harm themselves or worry that they may require inpatient psychiatric treatment, please contact the CARES line at 1-800-345-9049 to access mobile crisis response services. Services are available 24/7, 365 days a year.
