In accordance with Section 223 of the Protecting Access to Medicare Act (PAMA) of 2014 (P.L. 113-93) and the Illinois Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHC) Act, HFS is pleased to announce that on March 20, 2024, the State’s CCBHC Demonstration application was submitted to the Substance Abuse and Mental health Services Administration (SAMHSA) requesting that Illinois be considered for participation in the 2024 CCBHC Demonstration Program (Demonstration). 

Applications will be reviewed by a panel of federal subject matter experts from the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation (ASPE), the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and SAMHSA. Final selection of states that will be invited to participate in the Demonstration will be made no later than June 17, 2024.

As part of the application process, the State has provisionally certified 19 CCBHC locations that were determined to be ready to implement all state and federal CCBHC requirements. The specific CCBHC locations that achieved provisional CCBHC certification can be found here:
