Revalidation FAQs

How will I complete my revalidation?

The revalidation notice will contain instructions on accessing and starting the revalidation process.  Providers will log into IMPACT.  Upon logging in, they should select from the drop-down list, “Provider Revalidation List”.  The system will guide them through the remainder of process.  Providers that fail to complete the revalidation process in a timely manner will be deactivated from the Illinois Medicaid Program.

Where can I get more information about revalidation?

IMPACT Provider Enrollment Services will continue to provide information about revalidation as new questions are raised.  Providers can also review the Code of Federal Regulation – 42 CFR 455.414 for more information or access The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services at Home - Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services | CMS

What happens during revalidation?

Like the current modification process in the IMPACT system, providers will be asked to review their current provider information and either verify that information or provide updates; the difference is each step will need to be reviewed and not just the modification steps requiring an update.  Also, providers will have to test to new Terms and Conditions upon submission of the Revalidation. Some providers may be asked to submit additional documentation as part of the revalidation process.  Those providers who are categorized as high risk may be subject to an on-site visit.

What happens if I fail to revalidate?

Providers who ultimately do not revalidate will be deactivated/disenrolled. Should the provider decide to reactivate their Illinois Medicaid enrollment beyond the expired revalidation cycle end date, the provider will be given an effective date based on when the re-enrollment is submitted.  This will create a gap in the providers eligibility.  These providers will be ineligible for a retroactive enrollment.

Do providers that have revalidated with Medicare also have to revalidate with Illinois Medicaid?

Yes.  Even if a provider has revalidated their provider enrollment with Medicare, they must also complete the revalidation process with Illinois Medicaid.

What web browsers can, and can't I use?

Microsoft Edge and Firefox are the most compatible web browsers to successfully navigate through Okta and IMPACT.

Why can't I revalidate early/late?

Revalidation is federally mandated to occur at least every five years. To ensure compliance, providers are required to verify enrollment information within a specific 90-day period. If a provider tries to revalidate prior to the 90-day window, it will not count as a revalidation.

How are the revalidation cycles determined?

The revalidation cycle is generally driven from the original submission date of the application, but other factors can affect it. The date that a provider is due for revalidation can be viewed under the Basic Information step in IMPACT.

I never received an email saying something about revalidation, what should I do?

Providers should check their spam/junk folders. The email comes from No-Reply@illinois.gov. We recommend saving this email as a contact. The provider should also ensure that the email addresses listed in the basic information step of IMPACT are up to date and spelled correctly.

Why didn't the modification count towards my revalidation cycle?

There are several factors that go into a modification counting towards a revalidation. To ensure you are submitting a revalidation look for the following message to display in red text at the top of the Business Process Wizard (BPW): “Please update all steps to complete your revalidation process.”
