The MAC consists of up to 15 members; at least five of whom must be consumers or advocates. The remaining 10 members are usually health care providers. In addition, the Departments of Children and Family Services, Human Services, and Public Health each have one exofficio member. The director of the Department of Healthcare and Family Services appoints the members. The chairman and vice chairman of the MAC are selected by vote of the membership.

MAC meets six times per year by videoconference in both Chicago and Springfield. The MAC currently has three subcommittees: Care Coordination, Long Term Care, Public Education and Pharmacy.

MAC bylaws allow members to serve up to two consecutive two-year terms. The members continue to serve until their replacement has been appointed.

The Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services is currently seeking applicants interested in serving on the Medicaid Advisory Committee. If interested, please submit a resume to Cheryl.Easton@Illinois.gov.
