School Based/Linked Health Centers

The Illinois Department of Public Health funds 38 Health Centers that provide:

  • Routine medical exams

  • Physical exams for school or sports

  • Treatment of acute illness

  • Immunizations

  • Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD) testing and treatment

  • Gynecological exams

  • Pregnancy testing

  • Mental Health Services/Referral

All students must have parental permission to receive services unless otherwise allowed by law and each local community decides which services will be provided directly or through referrals. Centers are monitored by DPH to ensure continued compliance with Illinois Standards for School Health Services.
