Environmental Scans

​The Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS), in coordination with the Illinois Health Information Technology Regional Extension Center (ILHITREC) and the Chicago Health Information Technology Regional Extension Center (CHITREC), developed and conducted an environmental scan of healthcare organizations to determine the current state of Electronic Health Record (EHR) use by medical providers in the State of Illinois.  Survey topics include EHR adoption, utilization, and functionality, as well as Health Information Exchange (HIE) participation. Based upon the survey results, HFS, ILHITREC, and CHITREC will actively work to promote the adoption of EHR and Health Information Exchange (HIE) systems in Illinois through the MedicaidPromoting Interoperability (PI) Program.
