2022 Settings Compliance Validation

The Centers for Medicaid and Medicare (CMS) requires all states to validate HCBS Provider site compliance with Federal Settings requirements as part of the Statewide Transition Planning process.  Providers may learn more about the Final HCBS Rule and Settings requirements by visiting Illinois' Statewide Transition Plan webpage.

After Illinois conducted Validation activities between 2014 and 2016, CMS communicated additional guidance and clarification to states regarding Settings requirements.  To ensure Illinois is fully compliant, the State will be re-examining their HCBS Provider sites.

The State's HCBS Waiver Operating agencies have distributed Site Validation tools and instructions to their providers, directing provider staff to submit evidence of compliance to the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Service's Settings Compliance Validation portal.  Providers should use Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome to access the Settings Compliance Validation portal.

Providers may view a video tutorial on document submission here:

Providers who are unable to locate their individual site while accessing the portal should contact their HCBS Waiver Operating agency for assistance:
