 Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic Claim Submission Available for Fee-For-Service Claims

This notice informs providers that the Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) has made the necessary system updates needed to process claims for the fee-for-service population for Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) services.

Billing Guidance        

HFS will accept electronic transactions submitted through MEDI using the ‘Provider Invoice’ option or via 837P files for dates of service on or after 10/1/2024 utilizing the National Provider ID associated with the CCBHC site. Detailed instructions on how to submit a claim electronically can be found in the Chapter 300, 837P Companion Guide.

HFS will automatically provide timely filing overrides for claims dating back to 10/1/2024, for 180 days from the date of this notice.

Providers may direct questions to a community mental health center billing consultant in the Bureau of Professional and Ancillary Services at 877-782-5565, option sequence 1, 2, 4, then 8. Managed care questions, including requests for timely filing overrides for customers enrolled in managed care on the service date, should be directed to the applicable HealthChoice Illinois (HCI) managed care organization (MCO).
