​Re: Uninsured Population Special COVID-19 Coverage Ends May 11, 2023

This notice confirms that the uninsured population enrolled with special COVID-19 eligibility for COVID-19 testing, testing-related services, treatment, and vaccine administration during the public health emergency (PHE) will no longer be covered effective May 12, 2023.

The COVID-19 PHE ends on May 11, 2023. For dates of service beginning May 12, 2023, any person having only "COVID-19 Testing Only" eligibility in MEDI will no longer have coverage. The HFS COVID-19 Uninsured Portal will remain open for 180 days beyond the end of the PHE to accommodate the timely filing of claims with dates of service on or before May 11, 2023.

This partial benefit Medicaid eligibility group was created by Section 6004(a)(3) of the federal Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA). Under the FFCRA, coverage under this eligibility group is only available during the COVID-19 PHE.
