Re: Electronic Visit Verification (EVV)
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
This notice informs providers that the Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) continues to actively develop the state's electronic visit verification (EVV) system.
In 2016, Congress passed the 21st Century Cures Act, which requires states to implement the use of an EVV system for all Medicaid-funded personal care services and home healthcare services. The EVV is a technology-based system that verifies home healthcare visits by collecting information including, but not limited to, time and location of service, and attendance of home health care workers.
The purpose of the EVV system is to improve Medicaid program integrity by promoting quality services and positive outcomes for customers; safeguard against fraud and abuse; improve program oversight; and comply with the federal regulations.
Beginning in early 2023, HFS will solicit input from affected providers. No action from providers is necessary prior to January 1, 2023. Additional information is forthcoming in the new year through Provider Notices and other communications. HFS is committed to working with providers, customers, and other stakeholders to meet training needs and implement a quality solution as efficiently as possible. Please visit the dedicated online EVV Resource Center for additional information.
