Re:      Federal Provider Relief Fund Payment Update for Medicaid and CHIP Providers

The Department informed providers by informational notice dated June 12, 2020, of an opportunity for Medicaid and CHIP providers and Safety Net hospitals to apply for COVID-19 CARES Act Provider Relief Fund payments equivalent to 2% of total net patient revenue directly from the federal government.

The federal Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) will hold a webinar July 8, 2020 at 3:00PM Central time to provide additional education for providers on the Medicaid allocation of the Provider Relief Fund. Pre-registration for the webinar is available here. Providers can also review this federal fact sheet for additional information about the Provider Relief Fund Medicaid and CHIP provider distribution. As a reminder, the deadline for submitting provider information through the portal for this round of funding is July 20, 2020.

Also, some providers will be ineligible for the current Medicaid and CHIP provider distribution because they received a de minimis Medicare payment through the first general distribution of Provider Relief Fund payments. The federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has informed states through the National Association of Medicaid Directors that these ineligible providers will have an opportunity to apply in a future round if the Medicare Provider Relief Fund payment received was less than 2% of total net patient revenue. COVID-19 CARES distribution general information can be found here.

Please continue to monitor HFS provider notices for other COVID-19 related announcements.
