IMPACT (Illinois Medicaid Program Advanced Cloud Technology) Enhancement To Allow For The Entering Of A Remittance Address

To: Participating Medical Assistance Providers
Date: October 28, 2015
Re: IMPACT (Illinois Medicaid Program Advanced Cloud Technology) Enhancement To Allow For The Entering Of A Remittance Address

Beginning December 12, 2015, the IMPACT Provider Enrollment system will be modified to allow providers with an Enrollment Type of Typical or Atypical Sole Proprietor, Group, Facility/Agency/Organization (FAO) or Atypical Agency with multiple NPI’s (National Provider Identifiers) to enter an optional address termed the Remittance Address, in addition to the required Pay To Address, Correspondence Address and Location Address.  The optional additional Remittance Address can be entered on the “Add Locations” step of the Business Process Wizard (BPW).

IMPACT is designed to allow a single Pay To Address per Tax Identification Number (TIN) regardless of the number of providers who enroll/revalidate using that TIN.  This single Pay To Address for that specific TIN, in the current IMPACT system, directs all payments and remittance advices for all the providers using that TIN to that single address.  With the addition of the Remittance Address to the IMPACT system, multiple providers using the same TIN, with each having their own NPI, will have the option of entering a unique Remittance Address which will allow payments and remittance advices to be routed to this address rather than the Pay To Address for that enrollment.

If a Remittance Address is not entered, then the provider’s payments and remittance advices will be directed to the Pay to Address listed for that TIN. Not all providers using the same TIN are required to enter a Remittance Address; it is only for providers who choose to do so.  It is also important to note that there may only be one Remittance Address per IMPACT enrollment no matter the number of locations listed in that enrollment.

In summary, the IMPACT Remittance Advice modification will allow providers using one TIN, but having multiple NPI’s, to have their own address for the routing of payments and remittance advices.  Providers had previously been informed that the Pay To Address in IMPACT would be used to update all Legacy Payees with the same TIN; however, this will not happen until after January 1, 2016.  Between now and January 1, 2016, the Legacy Payee address will not be systematically updated.

More information is available at the IMPACT website.  Additional details will be posted as new information becomes available.  Please check the IMPACT website periodically for updates.
