Re: | Tamper-Resistant Prescription Pads - Delayed Implementation |
The Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) recently announced that it was making changes in compliance with a new federal law regarding tamper-resistant prescription pads. Further information on this policy, including a question and answer document, is available on the Department’s web site at http://www.hfs.illinois.gov/pharmacy/tamper.html
A federal bill has been signed into law which delays implementation of the requirement for tamper-resistant prescription pads for six months, making the requirement effective April 1, 2008. Therefore, HFS will not implement this requirement until April 1, 2008, to coincide with this date.
Further updates will be posted on the Department’s web site at http://www.hfs.illinois.gov/pharmacy/tamper.html
