Re:

Participant Co-payments Effective July 1, 2012

As a result of SB2840, which was recently passed by the General Assembly, the following changes will be made to Medicaid participant co-payments for drugs.

Effective with dates of service on and after July 1, 2012, following are the new co-payments for drugs:

Brand name prescription drugs: $3.65 (formerly $3);

Generic prescription drugs: $2 (formerly $0);

Over-the-counter drugs: $3.65 (formerly $0).

Reimbursement and co-payments under the non-Medicaid programs are not affected by this change.

Patients who are currently exempt from co-payments, such as pregnant women and children, will continue to be exempt from co-payments.

If you have questions, please contact the Bureau of Pharmacy Services at 1-877-782-5565, option 7.
