Who can get Illinois Medicaid?

Medicaid provides health coverage for Illinois residents who meet certain eligibility criteria including income limits and immigration status.

Eligibility for Illinois Medicaid is generally based on income, household size, and other factors. Individuals who may qualify include:

  • Pregnant women

  • Children under 19

  • Adults ages 19-64 with limited income

  • Seniors age 65+

  • Foster children and those in adoption assistance

Income limits vary by eligibility category and are determined based on federal poverty levels (FPL). It can be hard to tell whether you are eligible for Medicaid, so if you need Medicaid,
the best thing to do is apply. There is no penalty for applying, even if you are not found
eligible.
