Re:      SupportiveLiving Program Dementia Care Settings Participants - Delayed Egress as a SafetyIntervention

Thisnotice informs Supportive Living Program (SLP) Dementia Care Settings (DCS)providers that the Illinois Statewide Transition Plan for the Home andCommunity Based Services (HCBS) Waiver has been reviewed by the federal Centersfor Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and it has determined the SLP DCS tobe out of compliance. 

CMShas determined that SLP DCS participants, or potential participants, cannot berequired to have an identified need for delayed egress as a safety interventionto receive SLP DCS services. 

Participants,or potential participants, of the SLP DCS who receive an Elopement RiskAssessment according to program rules and do not require delayed egress as aneeded safety intervention shall be allowed to receive SLP waiver services.  

Theseparticipants, or potential participants may: 

             ·  stillchoose to reside in the SLP DCS

             · leavethe building independently at any time they choose

             · havetheir designated representative, if known, provided with referral informationto other service options, including services in the conventional SLP setting. 


Thischange is applicable to Medicaid fee-for-service participants and managed care enrollees.
