Provider Notice Issued 06/21/2018

New Medical Electronic Data Interchange (MEDI) Institutional Invoice Field for Service Line “Thru” Date

TO: Enrolled Home Health Providers
DATE: June 21, 2018
RE:

New Medical Electronic Data Interchange (MEDI) Institutional Invoice Field for Service Line “Thru” Date

This notice provides guidance regarding a new field in the MEDI Institutional Invoice Claim Submission Direct Data Entry Claim Tab.

To conform to HIPAA X12 standards, a service line “Service Thru Date” has recently been added to the Claim Tab. This field is not required and currently is not edited. Billing instructions for home health providers have not changed. Providers must bill each service date on separate service lines. The “Service Thru Date” field is not to be used.

The Department has identified some home health claims with one service line that contain a date range (with both the Service From Date and Service Thru Date completed) with a Quantity field that identifies the full number of home health services provided within that range. These Home Health claims will not process correctly. Providers should review their accounts and void and rebill any claims that were not appropriately billed.

Questions regarding this notice may be directed to the Bureau of Professional and Ancillary Services at 877-782-5565.
