| Re: | Delay in the Conversion from International Classifications of Disease (ICD)-9 to ICD-10 |
This Notice informs providers that federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has delayed the implementation date of the federally-mandated coding conversion from ICD-9 to ICD-10. The original implementation date of 10/1/2014 has been delayed. Providers will be notified of future changes related to the ICD-9 to ICD-10 conversion.
ICD-9 codes should continue to be used as part of the resident admission information electronically submitted to the DHS caseworker. These codes continue to be a data element that must be provided as part of the admission information even though they are not used to set LTC facility reimbursement rates.
As stated in previous Provider Notices, LTC facilities should submit all information to their DHS caseworker electronically using either the Department’s Medicaid Electronic Data Interchange (MEDI) system or REV. Transactions not submitted electronically will no longer be accepted by the DHS caseworker.
Questions regarding this Notice may be directed to the Bureau of Long Term Care at 217-782-0545.
