Illinois 1115 Waiver Demonstrations

Medicaid 1115 Demonstration Waivers allow states to “waive” certain provisions of the Medicaid law and receive additional flexibility to design and improve their programs. Illinois has two current 1115 waiver demonstration programs: Continuity of Care and Administrative Simplification Waiver and the Healthcare Transformation Waiver.  The Continuity of Care and Administrative Simplification Waiver was approved on June 19, 2021, effective through December 31, 2025. llinois is in the process of applying for an extension for the waiver through December 31, 2030.  The Illinois Healthcare Transformation Waiver Extension was approved on July 2, 2024, effective July 2, 2024 through June 30, 2029.
