Re:
Supportive Living Program (SLP) Provider Discharge Reporting Requirements

This notice acts as a reminder that Supporting Living Program (SLP) providers have 15 days to report a discharge in the Medical Electronic Data Interchange (MEDI) System per 89 Ill. Adm. Code 140.513(a). Many residents are not being discharged timely.

Reporting discharges untimely causes billing, claims, and eligibility issues. Failure to report a timely resident discharge or death could result in sanctions or penalties, including the withholding of Medicaid payments from the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS).

For any assistance with MEDI, SLP providers may contact the MEDI Help Desk at 1-800-366-8768.

This notice also serves as a reminder to report changes on the resident's status, including but not limited to resident death, change in patient credit, third party liability (TPL), and resident admission. These changes are required to be reported within the following timeframes:

  • Death of a resident – 15 calendar days

  • Changes in patient credit – 45 calendar days

  • Third Party Liability (TPL) – 45 calendar days

  • Admission of a Resident – 120 days

For additional reporting requirements, please refer to the Provider Notice issued on 12/23/2021.
