Introduction of Electronic Clinical Review Platform for Managing Prior Authorizations for Adaptive Behavioral Support (ABS) Services |
This notice informs providers of updates to the Adaptive Behavior Support (ABS) services prior authorization process for customers served under the Department of Healthcare and Family Services’ (HFS) fee-for-service (FFS) program. This notice does not apply to customers served under the HFS managed care program.
HFS partners with the Office of Medicaid Innovation (OMI) to conduct clinical reviews of prior authorization requests for ABS services within the FFS program. OMI is introducing an electronic Clinical Review Platform (CRP) for managing ABS prior authorization requests. The electronic CRP uses a web-based portal to simplify and streamline the process for requesting, modifying, and tracking the status of ABS prior authorization requests. Providers can now digitally submit requests for ABS Prior Authorization within the CRP Portal.
Effective April 15, 2025, all ABS prior authorization requests for FFS customers must be submitted via the OMI CRP. Providers may access the CRP at: https://crp.omi.uic.edu.
Providers seeking training on the CRP can register for training from the MTAC Learning Center. If this is your first time visiting the MTAC Learning Center, please click here to register with the MTAC Learning Center. If you have already registered with the MTAC Learning Center, click here to log in and find open training dates.
Instructions for establishing an account and registering to use the CRP can also be found on the CRP landing page.
Questions regarding this notice may be directed to hfs.abs@illinois.gov. Providers should check with the respective MCOs for details on ABS services for the managed care population.
