 Critical Access Hospital Supplemental Payment – Calendar Year 2024

In accordance with Public Act 103-0102, the Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) has posted the methodology and resulting payments for the Calendar Year 2024 Critical Access Hospital Supplemental Payment Program.

The program provides $10M annually for non-publicly owned critical access hospitals and $3.5M annually for publicly owned critical access hospitals for delivery of perinatal and obstetrical/gynecological services, behavioral healthcare including substance use disorder services, other specialty services, and telehealth services. These payments will be processed soon and paid to the hospitals through a HealthChoice Illinois managed care plan, separate from any other regular monthly supplemental payments.
