 Air Ambulance Rate Increase Effective January 1, 2024 

This notice informs transportation providers that in accordance with Public Act 103-0102, the Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) has increased reimbursement for base rates and added new mileage reimbursement of air ambulance services for dates of service beginning January 1, 2024.

HFS has completed the programming for these air ambulance rate increases after receiving federal State Plan Amendment approval. The Transportation Fee Schedule has been updated.

For fee-for-service (FFS) claims, air ambulance providers may now void and rebill claims that were initially submitted and paid at the old rates for dates of service beginning January 1, 2024. HealthChoice Illinois managed care organizations (HCI MCOs) will be doing adjustments to air ambulance claims with dates of service beginning January 1, 2024.
