​Re: Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) – Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) Training for Home Health Care Service (HHCS) Providers Using Third Party Management Systems

Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) is mandatory for all Medicaid-funded Personal Care Services (PCS) and Home Health Care Services (HHCS) per the 21st Century Cures Act ("Act"). The Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) implemented EVV to PCS providers on September 1, 2023, and to HHCS providers on December 31, 2023. Providers receiving this notice must use the State’s EVV vendor, HHAeXchange, directly or submit their EVV data to HHAeXchange from a third party EVV management system. 

This notice alerts HHCS providers delivering nursing, physical therapy (PT), occupational therapy (OT), and speech therapy (ST) services that submit claims for reimbursement to the Illinois Department of Human Services - Division of Developmental Disabilities (DHS-DDD), University of Illinois at Chicago - Division of Specialized Care for Children (UIC-DSCC), Illinois Medicaid fee-for-service (FFS) program, and/or HealthChoice managed care organizations (MCOs) about an Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) training conducted by HHAeXchange. This training is specifically for providers who will be using a third party EVV management system and then submitting their EVV data to HHAeXchange for state-wide aggregation.   

HHCS providers within this scope are strongly encouraged to register for the EDI provider onboarding training on February 21, 2024, at 10:00 am Central Standard Time (CST) by visiting the HHAeXchange EDI Training Registration page.
