​Re: Calendar Year 2023 Fee-For-Service (FFS) Supplemental Payment Reconciliation

In May 2023, the Department received federal approval for the changes to the FFS supplemental payments as prescribed in Public Act 102-0886.  While waiting for approval, the Department paid the FFS supplemental payments that were approved at the time for the months of January through May.  With the January 1, 2023, effective date of the newly approved supplemental payments, the Department has calculated a reconciliation of the two amounts by hospital.  The reconciliation can be accessed at the following link:

To reconcile payments as much as possible, the June monthly payment will contain additions or subtractions based on the results of the 5-month reconciliation. 

Due to the intricacies of HFS accounting and federal reporting requirements, in some cases, the amount owed to the Department may not be fully offset.  In those instances, the negative amounts in columns labeled (K) and (L) in the reconciliation may not be the full amount owed as presented in columns labeled (I) and (J).  Any remaining amounts owed presented in columns (O) and (P) will be applied against future monthly payments until the entire amount owed is reconciled
