SLP provider rates remain at 54.3% of theaverage nursing facility rate within specific geographic regions. Certified SLPDementia Care Setting rates are set at 127% of the approved rate for the SLPservices in each region. Since there is new funding being added to the nursingfacility per diem rate, associated SLP rates will also be affected. Componentsof the nursing facility rates that have been affected by the transition to anew payment system utilizing the federal Patient Driven Payment Model (PDPM)effective July 1, 2022, include:
Regional average rateincreases may vary depending upon the previous regional wage adjustor, percentof Medicaid paid nursing facility residents within the region, and individualnursing facility performance on meeting STRIVE based staffing targets.
Add-on payments tonursing facilities for the quality incentive pool and the certified nurseassistant (CNA) wage scale incentives are not included in the July 1, 2022,rate increases for SLP providers. Inclusion of these payments will requireapproval by the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS)through an amendment to the 1915(c) Home and Community-Based (HCBS) SLP waiver.Since the SLP waiver is currently in the process of being renewed, a waiveramendment cannot be filed until the current waiver renewal is approved byfederal CMS.
