Re: Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) Program Update and New Resource Center
This noticeinforms providers of the status of the use of Electronic Visit Verification(EVV) for all Medicaid-funded personal care services and home health care,including the creation of an online Resource Center that will provide ongoingprogram updates and helpful information.
In 2016,Congress passed the 21st Century Cures Act, which requires states to implementthe use of Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) for identified providercategories.
The IllinoisDepartment of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) continues to activelydevelop the state's EVV system, and no action by personal care or otherproviders will be necessary prior to January 1, 2021 or immediately after.
Beginning inearly 2021, HFS will solicit input and inform applicable providers aboutupcoming steps through the use of provider notices, a dedicated online EVVResource Center and other communications. The Department is committed toworking with providers, customers and other stakeholders to meet training needsand implement a quality solution as efficiently as possible.
The EVV Resource Center is now available online, offering detailed informationexplaining:
· Why Illinois isimplementing EVV
· Which providersservices are impacted
· Data that EVVmust capture
· Availabletraining and other supports
· Status ofIllinois’ EVV implementation efforts, including a development andimplementation timeline
The ResourceCenter will be updated regularly as the program progresses.
