Re:      HealthChoice Illinois – Special Needs Children Implementation Schedule Update

This notice informs providers of a revised date of the Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) HealthChoice Illinois managed care expansion for Special Needs Children. The anticipated enrollment expansion effective date for this population is revised from July 1, 2018 to October 1, 2018. Enrollment packets will be mailed in August 2018, for the October 1, 2018 enrollment effective date.

Special Needs Children include children under the age of twenty-one (21) who:

·       are eligible for supplemental security income (SSI) under Title XVI;

·       receive services under the Specialized Care for Children Act via the Division of Specialized Care for Children (DSCC);

·       qualify as disabled; or,

·       are under the legal custody or guardianship of the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS).

The revised HealthChoice Illinois enrollment expansion schedule does not impact special needs children’s access to healthcare services or benefits in any way. Providers will continue to bill the appropriate State Agency for services rendered until such time that the individual is enrolled in a Managed Care Organization (MCO).

Questions regarding this notice may be directed to the Department’s Bureau of Managed Care at 217-524-7478.
