Re: HFS Urges Providers to Sign HealthChoice Illinois Contracts Now

_______________________________________________________________________________________

The Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) strongly encourages nursing homes and other providers to contract as soon as possible with managed care health plans in HealthChoice Illinois. Recently, erroneous information circulated about alleged HFS advice regarding provider contracts. The Department wishes to stress that there are in fact no outstanding health plan contracts, requirements, mandates or other barriers to providers finalizing their agreements with health plans. By delaying, providers risk not being part of plan networks as HealthChoice Illinois prepares to launch. There is no benefit – only potential harm – in delaying.

There has also been incorrect information disseminated about HealthChoice Illinois. As the enhanced Medicaid managed care program, HealthChoice Illinois is replacing the Family Health Plans/ACA Adults (FHP/ACA), Integrated Care Program (ICP) and Managed Long Term Services and Supports (MLTSS) programs, beginning January 1, 2018. For more information about HealthChoice Illinois, including details on client transitions please see the HFS program overview notice

HFS designed HealthChoice Illinois to provide quality care for beneficiaries, with reduced administrative requirements and other enhancements to allow providers to better focus on client care. The Department encourages all providers to join the health plan networks that will be part of the program.
