Coding for Emergency Contraceptive Pills (ECPs)

​Re: Coding for Emergency Contraceptive Pills (ECPs)

The purpose of this notice is to inform providers of Emergency Contraceptive Pills (ECPs) fee-for-service billing changes. No other billing processes are affected by this change.

Effective with dates of service June 1, 2016 and after, the Department will no longer reimburse ECPs billed with procedure code S4993. All ECPs must be billed using J8499 effective with dates of service June 1, 2016 and after.
