| Re: | Medicare-Medicaid Alignment Initiative (MMAI) Passive Enrollment |
This Notice informs facilities that Healthcare and Family Services (HFS), in partnership with the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), is preparing to passively enroll additional beneficiaries into the Illinois Medicare-Medicaid Alignment Initiative (MMAI).
Approximately 14,000 beneficiaries living in the Greater Chicago region eligible for MMAI, who have not previously opted-out of the program and have not been auto-enrolled or reassigned into a Medicare Part D plan will begin receiving letters from HFS’ Client Enrollment Broker in mid-August 2015, with MMAI enrollment effective dates of November 1, 2015 and December 1, 2015. To efficiently manage the high volume calls letters will be mailed out over an eight week span.
MMAI health plans have made significant progress in completing Health Risk Screenings and Health Risk Assessments for their enrollees over the past few months, furthering the program’s goal of providing coordinated, person-centered care. HFS and CMS believe MMAI plans are well-positioned to add additional enrollees based on this progress. Additionally, HFS and CMS have recently made system adjustments to improve beneficiaries’ experience in the MMAI enrollment process and looks forward to continuing our work with beneficiaries, health plans, and providers to provide better care and achieve better health outcomes while lowering costs through MMAI. HFS will continue to look for additional opportunities to connect eligible beneficiaries with the MMAI program.
