Chapter U-200, Handbook for Providers of LEA Services- SPA Revision

 A State Plan Amendment (SPA) was approved to allow “other licensed practitioners of the healing arts” to prescribe occupational therapy services in the school setting, effective July 1, 2014. Previously only physicians were allowed to prescribe occupational therapy services. Please refer to the February 4, 2014, Informational Notice (pdf) regarding occupational therapy service referral requirements and changes to the Illinois Occupational Therapy Practice Act.

 

This bulletin provides updates to the General Limitations and Considerations on Covered Medical Diagnostic and Treatment Services topic in the Handbook for Local Education Agencies.
