Provider Notice issued 08/10/11

To:  Participating Pharmacies

Date: August 10, 2011

Re:  NCPDP Version D.0

The Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) will soon begin accepting most NCPDP Version D.0 and Version 1.2 electronic transactions in a production environment. A complete listing of the HFS implementation schedule for the new HIPAA Version 5010 and NCPDP D.0 transaction types will be posted on the department’s Web site.

Pharmacies may continue to utilize all HFS-supported NCPDP Version 5.1 transactions through December 31, 2011, as the Department will accept and support both the NCPDP Version 5.1 and D.0 telecommunication formats leading up to the federally mandated conversion date.  Please note, however, that HFS will not be supporting NCPDP transmissions types C1, C2, C3, N1, N2, N3, and P1 for Version D.0.

The Department has published Provider Companion Guides for both the Version 5.1 and Version D.0 NCPDP electronic transactions in order to provide technical assistance for participating providers. The HIPAA 4010 Companion Guide includes subsequent links to the Version 5.1 Companion Guide and Payer Sheets, while the HIPAA 5010 Companion Guide includes links to the Version D.0 Companion Guide and Payer Sheets.
