Handbook for Home Health Agencies Re-Issue

The Handbook for Home Health Agencies, Chapter R-200, Policy and Procedures for Home Health Agencies has been updated and is being re-issued by the department. Providers are encouraged to review the handbook in its entirety. The policy updates include the following:
R-202.32 – Claims Requiring Override by Department
Language revised to clarify when claims can receive an override.
R-211 – Prior Approval Process
Language added to the prior approval requirements.
Appendix 2
Preparation and Mailing Instructions for Form HFS 1409, Prior Approval Request – Language revised to match the HFS 1409 (R 03-09). With the issue of this handbook, providers must discontinue use of the DPA 1409 (R-01-92).
Appendix 4
Internet Quick Reference Guide – This is a new appendix.
The Handbook for Home Health Agencies, Chapter R-200 is available on the department’s Web site.
