| Re: | Illinois DocAssist |
The purpose of this notice is to update you on Illinois DocAssist. Illinois DocAssist is a statewide child and adolescent mental health, behavioral health and substance abuse consultation service for primary care providers (PCPs) and clinicians.
Since the consultation line began on September 8, 2008, more than 135 consultation requests have been fielded by the DocAssist staff. A majority of the calls have focused on attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), depression, and related medications and treatments. Thirty of those consultations resulted in a referral for additional support through follow-up care or specialized care.
In addition to responding to consultation requests, continuing medical education-eligible trainings are available on topics such as identifying, diagnosing, initiating treatment and the ongoing management of adolescent depression and ADHD.
Illinois Healthcare and Family Services enrolled primary care physicians (PCPs), nurses, nurse practitioners, and other health professionals that work with youth and thus directly or indirectly support the work of PCPs that care for children and adolescents up to the age of 21 years old may consult with Illinois DocAssist or request trainings Monday-Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM CST by calling 1-866-986-ASST (2778) or via the Internet at www.psych.uic.edu/DOCASSIST
Sincerely,
