Fiscal Year 2010 Screening, Assessment and Support Services (SASS) Program Contracts​

The purpose of this notice is to inform providers that the Illinois Departments of Children and Family Services (DCFS); Healthcare and Family Services (HFS); and Human Services, Division of Mental Health (DHS/DMH), will contract with the existing Screening, Assessment and Support Services (SASS) providers for Fiscal Year 2010.  In order to maintain stability across the SASS crisis network, the Departments are opting to issue one-year contracts with the existing contracted providers while reviewing the statewide system.  The Departments will be contacting existing providers via mail and/or phone in the near future.

 

In reviewing recent SASS provider billing activity, we have determined that each LAN is successfully submitting claims in excess of the Access Payment amount.  In response to these findings, the Departments are seeking to simplify the financial accounting for SASS providers by eliminating the SASS Access Payment option and instead, ask providers to utilize HFS’ standard advance/expedited payment process.  Any HFS enrolled provider experiencing financial difficulty may request assistance from HFS in accordance with 89 Illinois Administrative Code 140.71.  The administrative rule can be viewed on the HFS Web site at:  http://www.hfs.illinois.gov/lawsrules/
