Implementation Date Delay Regarding National Provider Identifier (NPI)

This addendum to the Informational Notice dated October 14, 2008, regarding National Provider Identifier (NPI) Implementation For The Pay-To Provider (Payee), is being issued to inform providers of a delay in implementation.

 

This addendum, issued by HFS on February 26, 2009, is now considered part of the October 14, 2008, notice.

 

The mandatory reporting of the NPI for the Pay-To Provider (Payee) on claims received on or after March 1, 2009, will not be implemented at this time.  Information regarding the new implementation dates will be sent to providers in the near future.  Providers should continue to report the 1-digit payee code to designate their appropriate payee when submitting claims to HFS, until further notification.
