Prior Approval for Non-emergency Transportation Services

To: Residents of Long Term Care Facilities
Date: September 27, 2007
Re: Prior Approval for Non-emergency Transportation Services

Effective October 1, 2007 , all non-emergency transportation services for residents of long term care facilities will require prior approval from First Transit. This means that the trip must be authorized before the transport occurs. If prior approval is not obtained the non-emergency transportation [NET] provider will not be paid.

The department notified long-term care facilities and NET providers of this requirement in July. The notices can be accessed on the department’s Web site at: http://www.hfs.illinois.gov/ltc/ or http://www.hfs.illinois.gov/transportation/, respectively.

In addition, the material used in the statewide training conducted in August can be found on First Transit’s Web site at: www.netspap.com

Requests for prior approval can be made by: calling First Transit at 1-866-503-9040; faxing the request to First Transit at 1-312-327-3854 or 1-312-327-3855; or by using passPort, First Transit’s online system which can be accessed at: www.netspap.com
