Provider Notice issued 06/30/06

To: Enrolled Non-Emergency Transportation Providers

Date: June 30, 2006

Re: Changes to Mileage Reimbursement and Attendant Policy

The department recently filed emergency amendments to 89 Ill. Adm. Code 140.490 and 140.492. Pursuant to these amendments, beginning with dates of service on and after July 1, 2006, the following transportation policies will be in effect:

  • Mileage will be paid from mile one for medicar and service car. The previous policy allowed for mileage only after ten miles (20 miles round trip).

  • Use of an employee attendant will be allowed for service car and taxicab. Providers will use procedure code T2001 to bill for employee and non-employee attendants.

The Handbook for Providers of Transportation Services, Chapter T-200 has been revised to reflect the billing changes and is available on the department’s Web site at: <http://www.hfs.illinois.gov/handbooks/>.

Replacement pages for the Handbook for Providers of Transportation Services are available with this bulletin on the department’s Web site at <http://www.hfs.illinois.gov/transportation/>. If you do not have access to the Internet, or need a paper copy, printed copies are available upon written request. You need to specify a physical street address to ensure delivery.
