Re: Cancellation of Request for Proposals (RFP) for NEMT Broker Program
On November 9, 2005, the Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) released a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the administration and operation of a Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) Broker Program to begin July 1, 2006. Through this RFP, the Department sought to convert its current NEMT program from a prior approval direct payment system to a full-risk broker arrangement in order to standardize the provision of NEMT services.
On April 13, 2006, the Department cancelled the RFP without awarding a contract .
As a result, the Department is extending the current contract with First Transit to operate the Non-Emergency Transportation Services Prior Approval Program (NETSPAP) through December 31, 2006. This extension will allow the Department time to consider other options for the non-emergency transportation program. The Department intends to build upon the current model to realize additional savings in this area.
As additional information becomes available on NETSPAP, providers will be notified. Your participation is greatly appreciated.
