Re: Electronic Processing for Emergency Ambulance Transport Services

 

The purpose of this notice is to reiterate the department’s policy regarding electronic billing for an Emergency Ambulance Transport. When billing electronically in ANSI X12 format for an Emergency Ambulance Transport, providers must report a “Y” in the “Emergency” box on the 837P (Loop 2400, SV109) or if submitting claims via the Medical Electronic Data Interchange, Internet Electronic Claims (MEDI IEC) System, on the Direct Data Entry (DDE) screen. This information is located in the department’s Chapter 300, Handbook for Electronic Processing, Topic 302.
