The Department of Human Services, the Department of Children and Family Services and the Department of Public Aid, in conjunction with the SASS Stakeholder Committee's Hospital Workgroup, will be conducting two video conferences for hospitals providing emergency services or inpatient psychiatric services to children and adolescents experiencing a mental health crisis.

The video conferences will be held on February 9 and February 17, 2005, at three locations throughout the state: Choate Mental Health Center located in Anna; McFarland Mental Health Center located in Springfield and the Clinton Building located in Chicago . The video conferences are scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon and will provide an overview of the SASS program, discussion on how hospitals interface with CARES and hospitals' role in crisis inpatient services for Illinois youth. The conference locations and agenda are attached . It is recommended that a representative from your hospital's emergency department, utilization review department and billing department attend one of the sessions.

To ensure that there is adequate room to accommodate all participants, preregistration will be required. To preregister for a session, please call 217-524-3304 or 217-557-7093 no later than February 4, 2005.
