The Handbook for Providers of Screening, Assessment and Support Services, Chapter CMH-200: Policy and Procedures for Screening, Assessment and Support Services (SASS), has been reorganized and rewritten. This handbook, with an issue date of December 2004, replaces the current handbook. A chart summarizing the major revisions to the handbook is provided on the back of this notice. Providers are encouraged to review the handbook in its entirety. This handbook, in conjunction with the Handbook for Providers of Medical Services, Chapter 100 and the Handbook for Electronic Processing, Chapter 300, provides information necessary for providers to receive payment from the department for SASS services.

The Handbook for Providers of Screening, Assessment and Support Services, Chapter CMH-200, is available on the department’s Web site at <http://www2.illinois.gov/hfs/MedicalProvider/Handbooks/Pages/Chapter200.aspx>. It is in Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF). In order to view or print the documents, you will need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer.
