| Re: | Preferred Drug List |
The Department has recently made several changes to the Medicaid and SeniorCare Preferred Drug List. Attached is the updated Preferred Drug List identified by class. The listing is available on the department's Web site at <http://www.dpaillinois.com/pharmacy/ >.
These changes are the result of a thorough medical review of all of the medications available for the classes listed. Where it was identified that treatments were of comparable medical efficacy, the Department is limiting coverage without prior authorization to those therapies that have the lowest net cost.
Coverage of prescription drugs is limited to products from companies that have signed rebate agreements with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Information concerning prior authorization for drugs may be found on the Department's website at:
http://www.dpaillinois.com/pharmacy/
Prior authorization requests may be submitted by telephone to 800-252-8942 or by telefax to 217-524-7264. Questions regarding this notice may be directed to the Bureau of Comprehensive Health Services at 217-782-5565.
