Any provider enrolled with the department can use the Medical Electronic Data Interchange (MEDI) Internet site to verify a participant's eligibility for medical assistance. To ensure confidentiality of information transmitted through the Internet, providers will be required to register for a digital certificate and then complete the MEDI registration process. The digital certificate enables users to identify or authenticate themselves to exchange sensitive information in an encrypted form with the department through the MEDI Web site. The MEDI registration process validates your status as an enrolled provider and allows you to authorize individuals to perform participant eligibility inquiries. Providers cannot perform participant eligibility inquiries without first completing the registration process.
To register to use the MEDI Internet site, providers must go to the Web site <http://www.myidpa.com/> or click on the MEDI Web site link from the IDPA home page <http://www.dpaillinois.com/>. The registration process requires you to use a certain type of Internet browser. If the Internet browser you are using is acceptable, you will gain access to the MEDI Internet site. If, however, you are not using a browser supported by the MEDI Internet site, you will be directed to download a browser to use, free of charge.
MEDI offers the following advantages:
Information on new EDI developments will be available at both the MEDI Internet site and in future informational notices. Should you have questions on either the digital certification or the registration process please call the telephone number listed on the computer screen. Should you have a question on a participant's eligibility, please call the Provider Health Care Hotline at 1-800-842-1461.
