Change in Procedure Codes - Effective September 1, 2002

​Re: ​Change in Procedure Codes - Effective September 1, 2002

Beginning with September 1, 2002 dates of service, procedure codes A0380 and A0390 will be closed and all ambulance mileage claims must be billed to the Department using procedure code A0425. If a round trip is provided, the A0425 must be entered twice on the claim form, with the appropriate origin and destination code clearly indicated on the claim.  Providers should continue to use the current codes for ground mileage, A0380 and A0390, for ambulance services rendered through August 31, 2002.

The A0425 was added to the Department's database effective April 1, 2002 for Medicare crossovers and emergency ambulance service. Providers were notified of this change on the provider information sheet.

As a reminder, all non-emergency ambulance services must be prior approved.
