This notice informs providers that, in accordance with Public Act 104-009, the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS), in collaboration with the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS), the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and the University of Illinois Chicago Medicaid Advisory Unit, has developed recommended screening guidelines for Tardive Dyskinesia. The recommended screening guidelines are intended for providers serving patients that have been prescribed antipsychotic medications. HFS’s screening guidelines are based on current, nationally accepted, evidence-based recommendations for the assessment and treatment of Tardive Dyskinesia. 

HFS has posted a presentation for providers that includes these screening guidelines within a training slide deck on its public-facing website at this link to ensure that the information is accessible to healthcare providers.
