This notice confirms the Department of Healthcare and Family Services’ (HFS) coverage of preeclampsia biomarker testing. This coverage is required under Public Act 104-0470 and applies to the Medicaid fee-for-service (FFS) program and the managed care organizations (MCOs).

The Act requires this coverage without imposing a deductible, coinsurance, copayment, or any other cost-sharing requirement upon the insured for asymptomatic or symptomatic preeclampsia. As HFS began coverage of CPT codes 0243U, 0390U, and 0524U effective January 1, 2022, no additional coding changes are currently needed.
